Youth Foundation Gala Huge Success!

The June 16, 2012 Sockers FC Chicago 25th Anniversary Gala/Auction/Hall of Fame Induction ended successfully as a record-breaking fundraiser and very enjoyable evening for all who attended.

Over 250 attendees enjoyed the evening’s celebration which included a Hall of Fame Induction and Scholarship Awards, dinner and drinks, silent and live auctions, dancing and some very enjoyable opportunities to take green screen photos with friends.

Both Michael Bradley and Jonathan Spector attended the event and represented the inaugural Hall of Fame inductees.

Four scholarships were awarded as follows:

1) Coaching Staff Scholarship awarded to Ismael Albarran
2) Jonathan Spector Scholarship awarded to Kevin Sieb
3) Sockers Youth Foundation Scholarship awarded to Alonzo Carrillo
4) Alumni Scholarship awarded to Jake Fuderer
An additional partial scholarship was collected from donations made by gala guests and will be awarded in the future.

Over 200 items were auctioned-off during the Silent and Live Auction event, most donated by membership families. SmartPhone technology was used for the auction and allowed members to participate in bidding, regardless of their attendance.

Sockers FC Chicago and Sockers Youth Foundation hope to make this dinner dance an annual event.

Huge thanks go out to all those who participated in the planning of this event, attended the event or participated in the auction bidding.

A very special thanks to all those members who generously donated items for the auction. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Thanks also to our Platinum Sponsor, Northern Illinois Soccer League and Gold Sponsors, MetalMaster & SnoGem (Smeja Family), NIKE and Chicago Soccer. We appreciate your support.

Sockers FC Announcement

The following is a letter from David Richardson, President of Sockers FC Chicago

To Our Players, Parents, Coaches, and Team Managers:
I am pleased to announce that as of Tuesday, February 28, 2012 the
Sockers FC will expand into the Naperville/Wheaton area with the
integration of former Chicago Fire Juniors Affiliate (“CFJ,
Inc.”Naperville/Wheaton) Soccer Program.  The integration will offer
soccer players in the Naperville/Wheaton area the highest level of
soccer development and opportunities.  This expansion is no different
than our recent expansion into McHenry County with programming
designed to fit the skill level of each child on a local level, with
opportunities to play on a regional and national level.  We will all
operate under the Sockers FC banner with programming that is
consistent both technically and administratively.

From an organizational standpoint, I will remain President of the
Sockers FC Club which will now have locations in Schaumburg,
McHenry/Crystal Lake and Naperville/Wheaton.  Local programming
(facilities/leagues) will remain the same at each of our three
locations. Our growth is consistent with our commitment to provide the
highest quality soccer programming in the Chicagoland area.

We have already planned and started some integration opportunities for
players and coaches this spring, including an invitation to attend the
Sockers 25th Anniversary Gala which will be held on June 16, 2012 at
the Schaumburg Marriott.

Please join me in extending a warm Sockers welcome to our newest
members from Naperville and Wheaton into our program.

David Richardson
